THIS IS US

WE ARE INSTEAD

We are Romina and Jonathan. We met 12 years ago, and since then, we share very similar questions that lead us to constant discovery. Rasquí (the one with cow colors) and then Enzo (the one with the mane) joined our family and without a doubt, Instead was born because of the love that they generate in us.
We are moved by causes related to animal suffering, sustainability and the change we are generating in the planet. We created Instead so you can contribute to them.

what is Instead for us?

Instead was born to give people like you a solution. There are many people who want to help by contributing to causes, sanctuaries or foundations that help animals. Instead aims to make it easy, reliable and fun. In addition to being able to help while making a special gift, you can trust that the money will be used to give rescued animals the life they deserve. Instead also seeks to make us aware of overconsumption and its impact on the planet, offering an alternative so that we can continue giving and celebrating, but consciously.

OUR PARTNERS

THE SANCTUARIES

Below, you can learn about a key component of Instead, the sanctuaries. During months of research, we made a pre-selection of the sanctuaries that have the highest standards. We interviewed and visited them and you find on our platform only the animals from the sanctuaries that have been selected. We continue working to include more sanctuaries and thus be able to support them so they can dedicate themselves to what they do best, giving a dignified life to rescued animals.
THANK YOU for your necessary and important work, thank you for giving a better life to the animals that fortunately came to you.

Juliana's Animal Sanctuary

The Juliana Animal Sanctuary was founded in 2006 in Colombia. However, the project has its roots in Juliana's initial desire to save all the animals in the world when she learned about animal suffering when she was 5 years old. When Juliana was 5 years old she decided to stop eating meat when she discovered that hamburgers They were not born from trees, that hamburgers were cruelly killed animals. From that day on, Juliana felt the need to help those innocent victims: The Animals. And so it was that at this young age she rescued dogs from the street, took them to the apartment where she lived with her parents and took care of them until she found them a home. When she was 11 years old, her school teacher asked her what she wanted to do when she was an adult. Juliana without hesitation said: "I will buy a very big place to save all the animals!"

But Juliana is a person of action more than words. At age 11, she started saving money by selling things at school so she could buy a large piece of land and start her dream, and she did it! It was the first animal sanctuary in the country of Colombia, and at that time it was the only one in all of South America.

Since then she has worked hard for the last 15 years with her team. In pursuing her dream, Juliana faced numerous challenges, including a public that didn't even understand the meaning of a sanctuary, legal battles over her land, lack of funds, and overwhelming demand for animals in need. Years have passed and Juliana and her team have rescued more than 3000 animals.

Compassion Animal Sanctuary

At Compassion Animal, we welcome animals exploited for human consumption. Most of these animals come from farms and slaughterhouses, rejected by society and given only the possibility of living within farm walls, sentenced to die. We believe farm animals also have the right to live without exploitation, desiring a full and happy life just like any of us or our pets.

The majority of sanctuary residents come from the cruel food industry. Therefore, Compassion Animal Sanctuary promotes a vegan lifestyle out of respect for their lives. We believe living vegan is the best way to live in peace with all animals and the planet, avoiding the suffering and death of thousands of animals.

Compassion Animal Sanctuary is a project of the New Compassion Foundation. We save animals, rehabilitate and comfort them, and advocate for animal rights, inspiring societal change through their stories. The sanctuary sits on 80 hectares of land, providing a haven of hope amidst so much pain. Here, cows, pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, and more can enjoy the life they were always denied.

To carry out this great project, we need the support and unity of people willing to contribute to building a new world for farm animals, a world without suffering.

Goodheart Animal Sanctuary

Goodheart was built on the belief that all animals are individual sentient beings, just like humans. They feel pain, have emotions, and should be treated with respect. As lifelong animal lovers, David Walker and DJ noticed that while there were many initiatives to help protect wildlife and exotic animals, someone needed to speak up for the underdogs of the animal world – farmed animals.

David and DJ felt so strongly about doing something that they established the charity Goodheart Animal Sanctuaries and set about securing the perfect site for a brand-new sanctuary which would become a haven for rescued animals. They decided on The Nickless, in Worcestershire, with its gentle hills, wooded areas, and large pastures. It was the ideal spot, and, in 2017, Goodheart Farm Animal Sanctuary opened its doors!

Set in 92 tranquil acres, our sanctuary is home to over 300 rescued animals including pigs, goats, cows, sheep, geese, and chickens. Over the years, we have enhanced the site with a number of habitat projects including a spacious Pig Barn & Woodland, a Home for Rescued Hens, and our newly-established Merry Rehabilitation & Special Care Unit, for those animals with additional care needs.

WHY DO WE USE ZOOMORPHISM?

The zoomorphic technique is born from cubism, dates back to the beginning of the 20th century and seeks to represent reality from multiple perspectives, which makes the concept aligned with Instead. We want to speak from another point of view, we want to start from the visual to show that animals, although they do not speak like humans, can communicate, express, and feel, like we do. Zoomorphism is a way we can generate empathy towards other species.

Fun fact

Why do we use collage?

Collage is a technique that reuses, recycles, transforms. It is a technique that represents sustainability, change. That's why we find that the collage represents us, because we want to be part of the transformation and unite your intentions to help with the efforts of the sanctuaries and thus, together, make a collage of good intentions.
